Staring at a sunflower

for about and hour

Ears ringin’

Heart singin’

At peace for no reason-

Content simply just-

Writin’ and seein’

Bein’ and breathin’

Yellow pedals

draw eye’s gaze

Brown and black florets

windows to the soul

Oh the happiness in never-

Knowing you’ll grow old

Oh the joy in not caring-

If your story is told

Oh loving sunflower

I know your power

Confined to a vase

still free and happy

We aren’t so different

you and me

We both grew-

from a  fertilized seed

Sharing this space

with a wildflower

Neither concerned

of when we’ll expire

Here I sit-

Been here for hours

breathin’ and bein’-

Witnessing the wisdom-

of a yellow sunflower.
