A box arrived,

with a note attached:

“Handle how you want —

Contents already broken”

Inside, glass crashes 

I hear broken pieces, of all sizes

large, small, and crushed to

fine powder

In a beat up package

to my surprise 

opened the box to see

In spite of it all

my soul’s still intact 

despite all the rattling
